A trip to the Cotswolds requires you to bring your appetite. Over the years, it has built up a reputation as a foodie destination, now famous for its superb local produce and array of independent eateries, many of which are award-winning.
The renowned Stinking Bishop cheese hails from these parts, as does Double Gloucester. The latter even gets its own event each year where locals risk life and limb to chase a giant version of the cheese down the lethally steep Cooper’s Hill near Chipping Campden.
Among the infinite number of pubs offering local ale and hearty menus, you’ll also find a delectable array of Michelin-starred restaurants. If you are self-catering, many of the towns and larger villages host weekly farmers’ markets and are well worth a visit to pick up local produce.
